Pakistan is positioned on the border of Middle East and Southwestern Asia. It is bordered by Iran and Afghanistan in the West, China in the North-east, India in the East, and the Indian Ocean in the South. The country is currently in the recovery phase from 2008 downturn where its growth in recent years is on an upward trajectory. Pakistan has made substantial progress in reducing poverty where the poverty is cut by more than two third from 36 percent in 2002.

Furthermore, the increasing proportion of Pakistan’s working-age population provides the country with a potential demographic dividend but also with the critical challenge to provide adequate services and employment.
