Uzbek delegation holds meeting with the President of the IsDB and the CEO of ICD

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 19 October, Washington hosted meetings of Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov with President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Bandar Al Hajjar and the CEO of the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) Ayman Sejiny.

The meeting participants agreed that the growth scale of the strategic partnership with the IDB group, taking into account the fact that Uzbekistan became a member of all IDB institutions this year, is characterized by extremely progressive dynamics, which creates the conditions for expanding the participation of this financial institution in the implementation of projects of high social significance in the framework of the Partnership Strategy with Uzbekistan for 2019-2022.

A constructive dialogue touched on relevant points of contact, including the prospects for the participation of IDB together with the funds of the Arab Coordination Group in a program to develop a network of preschool educational institutions in Uzbekistan based on public-private partnerships.

A list of promising projects in the field of construction of roads, technological equipment of medical centers and clinics and a comprehensive improvement of living conditions of the population was also jointly considered.

Following the meeting, the IDB leadership expressed its readiness this year to send missions to study the economic aspects of the initiatives discussed.

During a separate meeting, the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade discussed with the Executive Director of the ICD the issues of cooperation with Uzbekistan, considering, in particular, the prospects for increasing financing limits and introducing new financial and technical instruments.
